Project Profile
Located at 8 On Muk Street, Shek Mun, Shatin, adjacent to Shek Mun MTR Station, the Shek Mun Campus of Hong Kong Baptist University boasts a gross floor area of 30,000 square meters. The campus architecture is inspired by the concept of an “open book,” designed to act as an academic magnet encouraging interaction among students and faculty from diverse disciplines. Its library, situated on the 4th floor, shares resources with the main campus in Kowloon Tong, holding a total collection of over 1.6 million volumes. We have tailored a holistic reading space solution for this temple of knowledge. The library area features ergonomic seating systems that support readers during extended study sessions, alleviating fatigue. The overhead uniform fiber optic lighting system simulates natural illumination, providing visual comfort with every page turned and effectively cultivating a serene, focused reading atmosphere. This integrated configuration not only optimizes the utilization of valuable campus space but also, through human-centric design, helps HKBU Shek Mun Campus create a rich scholarly ambiance—allowing every student to immerse themselves in the world of books within a comfortable environment where light and seating harmony intertwine.
